Dr. Christine Nawas
Associate Veterinarian
Hi, I'm Dr. Christine and I am an associate Veterinarian at Clarington Animal Hospital.

I started at CAH in August of 2022 after moving here from Etobicoke to get out of the big city. From the moment I walked into this hospital, I could feel the passion and love that the wonderful CAH team had for pets and their families, as well as the love they had for each other. I knew I had found my new clinic home!

I have been on the path to becoming a Veterinarian from the age of 3 years old. My entire family tells me stories of how I have always had a special interest in animals. I began working at a cow farm when I was in the sixth grade. I later went on to study at the Ontario Veterinary College, where I earned my DVM degree in 2010. I have been practicing small animal medicine ever since.

I have a deep love for senior pets and hospice care as I feel very strongly that our pets deserve a happy and pain free life, especially going into their 'golden years'. Dermatology is also a very keen interest of mine. There are so many pets that suffer from allergies and skin issues, and I find it very rewarding to help itchy pets regain their comfort.

Fun Fact: I have a deep love for music. I have a very keen ear and can remember lyrics to songs after only hearing them a handful of times. I can't read written music, but I can play many songs by ear on the keyboard or piano.

My Hero: Who is my hero? My heroes are my parents. I wouldn't be where I am or who I am today without their love, support and guidance.

Hi, my name is Ashley, and I am a Client Service Representative. I have been working here at Clarington Animal Hospital since October 2021, and I absolutely love it! I have been in the animal care field since 2014.

My 18 year old old lady-cat named 'Kaylie" was my inspiration to go to college, and begin the pursuit of my career.

On my time off, you can find me on the couch playing video games, or spending time at my cottage.

Fun fact: I like the movie 'Lion King' so much that I have a 'Hakuna Matata' tattoo.

My Hero: Hands down..... my hero is my beautiful daughter. If it weren't for her, I would not be who or where I am today. I am forever grateful for her saving my life.
Kirstyn
Customer Service Representative
Hi, my name is Kirstyn and I'm a Customer Service Representative.
I started working here at the Clarington Animal Hospital in March 2021, but I have been in the animal field since 2017.

I have a love for all living things and a fascination with medicine, so I decided that the veterinary field was the perfect fit (and who doesn't love to cuddle with kittens and puppies?!). I'm learning so many new things every day and love being able to help our furry friends and their humans.

I'm a strong believer in the power of education, and transparency. Together they are the key to ensuring pets and pet-parents alike receive gold-standard care!

Fun fact: I love spooky things! Halloween is my favourite holiday.

Hero: Luna Lovegood (from Harry Potter)
Joelle
Customer Service Representative
Hi, my name is Joelle...Jo for short. I am a Customer Service Representative, and I make up pretty much the entire Graphic Arts Department.

I have been spreading joy here since May 2016.

A little white kitten named 'Cream' is who inspired my career path...along with James Herriot.

I firmly believe that, "until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." Quote by Anatole France.

Fun Fact: I randomly break out into song and dance....and I will eat pizza anytime and anywhere.

My Hero: Definitely Wonder Woman! (from the Linda Carter days)
Sharon
Hospital Administrator
Hey, my name is Sharon and I am the Hospital Administrator.

I have had the privilege of working here since we opened in 1997.

My career in this field actually began by accident when I was in high school, but happily became my life-long endeavour.

I am passionate about making sure that every animal we see receives nothing but the best care and never leaves without a cookie and a cuddle.

Fun Fact: I like lists. All my lists are organized on a master list, which is alphabetized on a list of master lists.

My Hero: My husband. He is the most thoughtful human being that I know.
Kristi
Customer Service Representative
Hi, my name is Kristi and I am the Head Receptionist as well as in charge of all I.T.

I have been taking care of our clients since the hospital opened back in 1997.

Being able to help animals and their owners in every capacity is what inspired me to enter this field.

I truly believe that animals bring vast amounts of joy into our lives every day.

Fun Fact: I can make balloon animals

My Hero: My mom
Bonnie
Senior Registered Veterinary Technician
Hi, my name is Bonnie. I am a Registered Veterinary Technician.

I have worked at the Clarington Animal Hospital since 1997, when we opened.

Growing up, I had a love for animals, but it wasn't until my high school co-op in an animal hospital that I knew for sure that this was my passion.

I feel strongly that our pets are an important part of our family. Our fur babies give us so much unconditional love and make our days brighter.

Fun Fact: My favourite musical is The Sound of Music

My Hero: My dad
Gillian
Registered Veterinary Technician
My name is Gillian and I am a Registered Veterinary Technician. I started working here at CAH in December 2022, but I have been in the animal field for about 6 years now. I chose this field because of my love for all animals. Initially I was going down another career path but stumbled upon work in this field and realized that I absolutely love all aspects of veterinary medicine. This just made sense to me.

I strongly believe that all pets deserve humans who give them the best possible care and act as an advocate for them. Animals can not speak for themselves and need someone to not only speak for them, but also someone who is medically trained to know what they need and how to help them. I wanted to be that person.

Fun Fact: I love the outdoors. A Lot. I really like to hike, camp and go to the cottage with my best buddy, Ace.

My Hero: Because I absolutely love elephants, my hero would have to be Paula Kahumbu. She has done so much for elephant conservation and works tirelessly to ensure that elephants will never become extinct.
Tracey
Veterinary Assistant
Hi, I am Tracey. I am the surgical V.A. here at Clarington Animal Hospital

I started here in October of 2017.

When I was younger, I felt very dissatisfied with my career choice. Knowing that I had so much more to offer, I decided to take a leap and enter an Animal Care program. That ignited a whole new passion which has led me to where I am today.

I believe that animals should only know love and kindness, especially when in the care of their veterinary team, because your pets are our pets.

Fun Fact: I love summer, especially camping, kayaking and hiking

My Hero: My mom. She is strong and kind and always has a great outlook on life.
Dr. Jackie Bosak
Practice Owner, Veterinarian
Hi, my name is Dr. Jackie. I am a Veterinarian, and the Practice Owner.

I have been taking care of furry family members at the Clarington Animal Hospital since November 2006, and been the practice owner since March 2019.

Being a co-op student in an animal hospital back in 1992 affirmed my deep love of animals and I knew I was in the right field.

I feel very strongly about advocating on the behalf of all animals since they do not have a voice of their own. I think that all dogs and cats should be spayed or neutered to prevent many life-threatening diseases, unless they are going to be responsibly bred by a breeder.

Fun Fact: I love sudoku puzzles, baking and camping.

My Hero: My mom. She is the best human I know.

Dr. Carol Cameron
Associate Veterinarian
Hi, I'm Dr. Carol and I am an associate Veterinarian here at Clarington Animal Hospital.

I first started here as a locum in 2011, and I became full time in May of 2016. I enjoy the people I work with and the philosophy we all practice.

Since both my parents grew up on farms, I have happily been exposed to the animals that I love from a very young age, and since I really like science and math, veterinary medicine seemed like a good way to put it all together.

I feel very strongly that every pet deserves an owner who genuinely loves them.

Fun Fact: The fossil remains of the largest penguin species on the planet was unearthed in Antarctica. The fossil belonged to a Colossus Penguin that was over 6 feet tall, weighed 250 pounds, and lived approximately 37 million years ago. This penguin was my OVC class mascot!

My Hero: That's easy. The down to earth, hard working people who have always been there to guide, support and encourage me.......my parents!
